The best whirlpools are equipped with a sanitizing system which, at the end of the bath, cleans them automatically by pressing a simple button. In most cases, they are also equipped with special nozzles which, in addition to hermetically closing when the whirlpool is not activated (thus preventing detergents and water from stagnating in the internal circuits), provide a draining system that totally eliminates any residue of water from the system itself once the shutdown button is pressed. Preventing stagnation of water is indeed essential if you want to avoid bacterial growth and bad smells.
The best techniques to clean your hot tub

If our bathtub is not equipped with these systems, we must not despair, because with a little good energy and the right products we can clean it anyway.
Sanitization
The first thing to do to perform a manual sanitization is to get us a bottle of sanitizer . The one proposed by the companies is fine, but if you want to save a few dollars, you can buy sodium hypochlorite in the pharmacy.
At this point we fill the tub so that the water exceeds the level of the nozzles, pour the sanitizing liquid into the tub and press the hydromassage on button. Let it run for about ten minutes and then empty the tank.
In case of limestone deposits we can also try with citric acid .
How to clean the vents and the suction valve
If the vents or the suction valve are obstructed, we can clean them by disassembling them with a specific key, immersing them in an anti-limescale liquid and then reassembling them carefully, not to ruin the seals.

Beware of the taps!
To clean the taps or in general the chromed parts, we recommend using only a damp cloth and drying them immediately, in order to prevent the formation of limescale. If you really want to use a detergent, choose one with a neutral base and avoid those that are too aggressive!
And finally the acrylic
To always keep the acrylic walls of the bathtub clean and prevent it from yellowing excessively, you can use a cream or liquid detergent and a soft sponge instead. Avoid abrasive sponges and too aggressive detergents.
Even if we don’t use the tank often (a little use can be more harmful for the tank than an intense use) it is advisable to clean it thoroughly at least once a month. It is also very important not to use shower gel, shampoo or soaps when the whirlpool is in operation. If you want to use the tub for a cleaning bath it is also essential that the vents are hermetically closed, just to prevent impurities and residues from ending up inside the pipes.
